As part of its commitment to lower trade barriers and provide SMEs with more equitable access to global markets, Alibaba Group hosted its first “Access to China Consumers” Seminar, with the aim to enable Malaysian exporter to tap into the demand among Chinese consumers for Malaysian and foreign products. 

The seminar was designed to help small and medium-sized businesses in Malaysia better understand the China opportunity, major drivers in its e-commerce boom, as well as the latest insights and tools to sell their products effectively in China’s prosperous e-commerce market.

Swedish furniture maker Ikea is set to open their third shopping centre in Malaysia located in Tebrau, Johor.

With an impressive 1.1 million square-feet, Toppen Shopping Centre will be seamlessly integrated with Ikea Tebrau and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2019.

KIPLING Malaysia, the fashion bag brand and Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN) have joined hands to raise awareness and reduce consumer demand for White-Handed Gibbons (Hylobates Lar) as pets called The Kipling Initiative.

The White-Handed Gibbon is classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List and listed on Appendix I of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and listed as Totally Protected Species under Second Schedule Wildlife Conservation Act 2010.

VLT, the Malaysian award winning innovation, product and design firm recently developed ‘Shop You’, an Artificial Intelligence powered retail and fashion solution, aimed to bring the technological advances to the fashion and retail industry.

According to research done by fashion-tech entrepreneurs Kelly Slessor and Emma Sharley based in Australia, only 2 out of 10 women actually enjoy shopping, while the rest dislike the time and hassle it takes, and the fuss in returning items.

Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad (PAMB) has brought its PRUkasih programme, a fully sponsored financial protection plan to urban low-income households to East Malaysia for the first time, starting with the community of PPR Taman Dahlia in Kuching, Sarawak where a launch event was held at PPR Taman Dahlia in Kuching which has more than 800 families that are eligible to register for PRUkasih.

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national oil company of Malaysia, and Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, are pleased to announce the formation of two joint ventures for the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project.

These joint ventures allow the parties equal ownership and participation in the operations of the refinery, cracker and selected petrochemical facilities in RAPID, which is part of the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Malaysia’s southern state of Johor.
