The chief executive officer of a leading Malaysian  scholarship provider has been appointed as one of the senior officers of global accountancy body  ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), representing more than 252,500  members and 526,000 future members across 180 countries. 
	   
	  	  	  
	  
	  	
Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan brings extensive business experience to the role. She is CEO of the  Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre (MyPAC), a non-profit dedicated to helping students  from poorer backgrounds find careers in finance. She also holds senior non-executive director  posts including chair of GX Bank, Malaysia’s first digital bank. 
Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan said: “I’m pleased and honoured to be appointed as vice president of  ACCA. I am looking forward to my continuing involvement with this important global body.” 
“I’m very proud that ACCA offers open access to the accountancy profession, playing our part in  improving social mobility and contributing to building a more equitable future for all. Opportunity  for all, regardless of background, is an issue I feel strongly about and I look forward to highlighting  this in my role as vice president of ACCA.” 
She was elected to ACCA’s Council in 2016 and has previously served as the president of the  ACCA Malaysia Advisory Committee. She has also previously served as Deputy Chair of the  International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB)  Committee.  
Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan joins fellow ACCA officers Ayla Majid, president, a sustainability  strategist from Pakistan, and deputy president Melanie Proffitt, from England, who is Chief  Financial Officer of Farncombe Estate, a hotels group.  
This is the first time in ACCA’s history that women have held all three officer posts at the same  time.
