Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) debuts its new brand for electric mobility, the EQ to local market in an effort to expand its commitment to the growing electric-powered car market.
The EQ, which stands for electric intelligence, stands as pioneer of future mobility solutions, and will now become the trademark for the company’s range of electric vehicles.
The EQ will add to the German carmaker’s various brands, including the high performance AMG and Mercedes-Maybach.
“The name EQ is derived from the Mercedes- Benz brand values of emotion and intelligence.
“We believe that the EQ brand will take us forward into the future of mobility with emphasis and innovation in connectivity, autonomous drive capabilities and shared services.
“With this, we reaffirm that Mercedes-Benz is, and always will be, the pioneering brand in the automotive industry as we have been since we invented the automobile over 130 years ago,” said MBM president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner.
Following the launch of the EQ, MBM also launched the redesigned Mercedes C350 e and E350 e as EQ power products. More new models under the EQ brand are expected to hit the market, including fully electric-powered cars.
EQ Power will pave the way for EQ, a title reserved solely for a range of pure electric vehicles which have been previewed extensively by the Generation EQ concept car introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2016.
“By launching the EQ brand led by our technology leaders and range-topping EQ Power C 350 e and E 350 e plug-in hybrid automobiles, we are able to create something highly emotional.
“The thrill of immediate acceleration with the sustainability of efficient energy consumption. To us, electric mobility is more than an alternative drivetrain.
“The EQ brand is our technology calling card for customer-focused electric mobility. It extends beyond the vehicle itself to an ecosystem designed to deliver the best value, convenience and luxury to our customers,” said MBM vice president, sales and marketing passenger cars, Mark Raine.
In addition, MBM is also introducing the EQ Agility Care package where customers will receive scheduled vehicle maintenance and servicing, along with an EQ Power charging wallbox packaged with the new EQ Power C350 e and E350 e for an ownership tenure of three to five years.
MBM continues to support the nation’s ambition of becoming the regional Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) hub as all Mercedes-Benz charging stations are also rebranded as EQ facilities.
The new charging stations are currently located in Bangsar Shopping Centre, Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Desa Park City and more locations will be announced in the coming future.
