The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) proudlyhosts the "Visually Impaired Entrepreneur Day 2024," a landmark event dedicatedtoempowering visually impaired entrepreneurs. This significant event takes place todayat theMAB Kompleks in Brickfields, gathering government agencies, financial institutions, andbusiness owners to explore opportunities and strategies for business growth.
The event aims to provide valuable insights into business financing strategies, management of variable costs, and ways to increase income. It features participation fromseveral government agencies including the Malaysian Cocoa Board, Federal Agricultural MarketingAuthority (FAMA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and the Malaysian Agricultural Researchand Development Institute (MARDI). Business financing agencies such as SMECORP, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Tekun Nasional, Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD CORP), and the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM) arealsopresent to offer their expertise.
Attendees can expect a diverse range of activities including a discussion forumon businessfinancing, exhibition and sales by 16 visually impaired and 3 public entrepreneurs, andachocolate-making session by the Malaysian Cocoa Board. The event also includesaluncheon and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony betweenBankMuamalat and MAB.
The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) is a leading non-governmental organizationdedicated to creating equal opportunities for the visually impaired community. With ahistoryspanning seven decades, MAB has been at the forefront of rehabilitation, training, education, and employment initiatives, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals to ensureabetter quality of life for all visually impaired individuals in Malaysia. Currently, thereare58,289 visually impaired individuals registered with the Department of Social Welfare(JKM) Malaysia.
