Jaya Grocer, Malaysia\u2019s family-run lifestyle fresh market, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with 22 outlets and with plans for an aggressive expansion of five more outlets this year.<\/p>\n
In fact, it ended 2017 with 21 outlets and opened its 22nd in Johore Bahru last week. By year-end, it plans to have 27 supermarkets across the peninsula.<\/p>\n
As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Jaya Grocer has been offering 10 items on special promotional prices each week since the start of the year. \u201cWe call it our \u2018Ten To Celebrate Ten\u2019 Campaign,\u201d said operations director Daniel Teng.<\/p>\n
Teng was meeting the media at Starling Mall Jaya Grocer here today to share his corporate plans for the country\u2019s foremost neighbourhood freshgrocer and to introduce the weekly promotional items which will last throughout the year.<\/p>\n
In addition, through a partnership with AIA Vitality, Jaya Grocer has launched a \u201cHealthy Food Campaign\u201d where AIA Vitality card holders get a 10% discount on selected fresh fruits and vegetables.<\/p>\n
Jaya Grocer has opened its latest outlet at Sunway Iskandar Citrine Hub in Johor last week to mark the 10th anniversary year. It will open five more outlets this year at:<\/p>\n
1. Eco Ardence at Setia Alam in February<\/p>\n
2. Kuala Lumpur Eco City at Bangsar in June<\/p>\n
3. Empire City Damansara in July<\/p>\n
4. Kiara 163 at Mont Kiara in September, and<\/p>\n
5. Kuala Lumpur East at Taman Melati in December.<\/p>\n
Teng said the management chose each location of the outlets carefully after considering the shopping habits of consumers in each neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though Jaya Grocer itself is 10 years old, the management team is led by retail veterans with a family heritage dating back to pre-Independence Malaya. We are proud of our heritage and are yet humbled by the overwhelming support shown by our loyal customers through the decades,\u201d Teng said.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the upcoming opening of its Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer, he said it would be one of the largest \u201curban fresh grocers\u201d in the country. This would be located at the Kuala Lumpur Eco City (KLEC), a strategic and synergistic public-partnership between developer SP Setia Bhd and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe concept of Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer is to bring back the feeling of shopping in a fresh wet market which is clean and well laid out. We hope to meet the discerning demands of sophisticated modern day shoppers in the city,\u201d Teng said.<\/p>\n
Bangsar Market will occupy 54,000 sq ft \u2014 or the entire second level of the mall \u2014 providing the \u201curban sophisticate\u201d with an authentic urban grocery shopping experience often seen in advanced countries.<\/p>\n
On Jaya Grocer\u2019s online delivery service, Teng said it would be gradually expanded to cover more areas in the Klang Valley, beginning with its Pearl Point Outlet in Jalan Klang Lama.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince we started at the end of 2016, our online segment has grown by 30%,\u201d said Teng.\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cIt has certainly helped to meet a need among modern consumers with a hectic city lifestyle or busy mothers with young children who cannot spare time to shop in person.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe provide same day delivery, with the quickest delivery time being within 2 hours. Furthermore, we only charge a token for the delivery service and prices remain the same as in-store, including promotional items.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou just click and we deliver,\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n
Teng also shared the company\u2019s plans for a new Distribution Centre in Puchong that will help improve the overall supply chain management.<\/p>\n
He expressed appreciation to all Jaya Grocer managers and staff for their contributions towards the success of the Jaya Grocer brand. \u201cWe are proud to note that many of our senior managers have been with us from the start 10 years ago and are still with us. Many in fact have been working with my family even before the inception of Jaya Grocer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
