The 2018 report by Jobstreet.com showed that job opportunities for candidates are expected to be stronger than in 2017, with 30 percent of Malaysian employers indicating an increase in hiring activity, with a 12 percent increase year-on-year (YOY).<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, 15 percent of the employers surveyed have mentioned that they will maintain their hiring rate in 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition, a notable drop in \u201chiring freeze\u201d was observed by a five percent improvement from last year, affirming the growing momentum in hiring activity.<\/p>\n
This growing confidence correlates with an increase in job postings which is a nine percent increase YOY, in which online migration of non-executive job postings contributed three percent to the overall growth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe see both employers and candidates sharing a more positive outlook towards the job market this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe key drivers of this sentiment are the rise of start-ups, expansion of local businesses, and entry of foreign companies that will lead to job creation and the need for diversified skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we can expect both job hunting and hiring activity to pick up in 2018,\u201d said Country Manager of JobStreet.com Malaysia Chook Yuh Yng.<\/p>\n
With a growing market confidence this year, the JobStreet.com Job Outlook Report 2018 also revealed some useful insights on competitive hiring strategy such as employee compensation and benefits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the report, the top five benefits desired by employees includes health & medical insurance, transportation allowance, medical coverage for family & dependants, pension & retirement fund and flexible working hours.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIn times of increased hiring activity, employers should look into emerging needs of employees as pull factors to be competitive in talent attraction and retention. Essentially, it is important for employers to find a balance between employees\u2019 desired benefits and offered benefits to be able to retain and attract talent,\u201d added Chook.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The JobStreet.com Job Outlook Report 2018 was shared during the JobStreet.com Malaysia Career and Training Fair 2018 which gathered over 130 companies across industries for candidates to meet and network with Malaysia\u2019s top employers under one roof.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
During the event, JobStreet.com also launched their latest feature named \u201cCareer Insights\u201d, a data-driven tool for insights into candidates\u2019 intended job roles such as salary data, skill requirements, and industry trends.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This new feature from JobStreet.com boasts a total of 162 roles, encompassing 75 percent of the most popular job roles across all industries to help candidates make better informed career decisions.<\/p>\n
