AXA Affin General Insurance Berhad (AAGI) has launched a motor insurance add-on to provide e-hailing drivers with a comprehensive 24\/7 protection and peace of mind named AXA SmartDrive-Sharing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
E-hailing services have been growing rapidly in Malaysia, with 180,000 drivers operating in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This number is expected to increase with the announcement in the 2018 Budget that a RM5,000 grant to buy a new car will be given to registered taxi drivers intending to shift to e-hailing.<\/p>\n
The recent legalisation of e-hailing services will pave way for the protection of e-hailing drivers as comprehensive private motor insurance does not cover e-hailing services.<\/p>\n
This also means e-hailing drivers are exposed to risks from not being covered by their private motor insurance and potential claims by passengers in the event of accidents.<\/p>\n
AXA SmartDrive-Sharing was launched in line with the government\u2019s initiative and ensuring both e-hailing drivers and passengers are protected in the event of accidents that may result in injuries or damage to their belongings,<\/p>\n
The plan covers loss or damage to driver\u2019s vehicle; liability to third party; legal liability to or of passenger; driver\u2019s personal accident up to RM10,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is why we have come up with this plan to empower e-hailing drivers to drive and earn with complete peace of mind,\u201d said AAGI chief executive officer, Emmanuel Nivet.<\/p>\n
Drivers will also enjoy AXA\u2019s suite of value-added services such as fast claims approval in 5 working days upon full documents submission and roadside assistance with AXA SmartDrive Assistance Plan including 24 hours hotline service, towing, 6 months repair warranty and more.<\/p>\n
