Iflix has teamed up with Macam Yes Studios to announced the premiere of Studio2:15\u2019s first Malaysian short-form original, Cupid Co.<\/p>\n
The six-part dramatic series is available to stream and download for free exclusively on iflix.<\/p>\n
Cupid go which runs for 15 minutes per episode tells the tale of a cupid named Tim who, against the laws of heaven, makes a human, Michelle, fall in love with him. Stuck with the decision to let love run its course or adhere to the strict rules that cupids must abide by, Tim faces the consequences of his actions, navigating life, love, and mistakes with his best-friend and colleague, Bruce, by his side.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis collaboration marks iflix\u2019s first endeavour in creating short-form content. We are thrilled to partner with one of Malaysia\u2019s finest and most acclaimed home-grown content creators, whilst giving them a whole new platform to expand their talent and creativity.<\/p>\n
\u201cMobile users are the driving force in internet viewing, and Cupid Co. is the first of<\/p>\n
many projects lined up for release in the next few months as part of Studio2:15,\u201d said Studior2:15 head of studio, Craig Galvin.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Iflix Malaysia and Brunei country manager, Diana Boo concur and revealed that there has been a rise in demand for quality short-form content an iflix originals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe noticed a trend where people likes short-form content as they can watch it while they are commuting or buying groceries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOur work with Macam Yes Studios is just the beginning of our localisation plans and we look forward to showcasing even more locally produced short-form content to eager audiences, both locally and regionally,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As a pillar of the company\u2019s local content and short form strategy, iflix solicited tenders from local YouTube content creators for an original mini-series earlier this year. Macam Yes Studios was awarded funding for their proposal to bring the story of Tim the cupid to life.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cupid Go was written and directed by Malaysian YouTube veterans, Brian Lee and Ernest Ng, with Dan Khoo as Co-director and Executive Producer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cupid Co was inspired after Khoo binge-watched a korean series called \u201cGoblin\u201d and were targeted to young adults in the early 20s.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Galvin revealed that based on the response, the show is slated to be released in other countries in the region such as Indonesia and Philippines.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He believed that even though Cupid Go was developed to localised iflix\u2019s content but the originals has include many universal themes that anyone in their early 20s could relate to regardless of where they are from.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Boo revealed that another local-made originals is in the pipeline and will be released in the third quarter of 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are producing a long-form content with the production house that released the popular film KL Gangster and KL Gangster 2.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only does the franchise has a good followings, but we have also noticed that\u00a0 Malaysian likes action movies which is why we approached the production house to create a long-form content for our audiences,\u201d said Boo.\u00a0<\/p>\n
