He is also the National Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), and the Member of Parliament for Ipoh Barat, Perak.<\/p>\n Results in GE14:<\/strong> M. Kulasegaran (55,613) won the seat with a majority of 45,724 votes against MCA\u2019s Cheng Wei Yee (9,889).<\/p>\n Personal Details:<\/strong> Jayalachimi Kanapathy (wife).<\/p>\n Qualification:<\/strong><\/p>\n – Received his early education at Anglo-Chinese School in Sitiawan, Perak.<\/p>\n – Completed his BA (Hons) Barrister at Law from Lincoln\u2019s Inn, London.<\/p>\n – He was called to the English Bar in July 1982 by the Honourable Society of Lincoln\u2019s Inn, thereafter he was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court in Malaya in 1983. Interesting Facts: –<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. His Motto – Never Give Up.<\/strong><\/p>\n He used to grow up with no electricity and water. The second youngest of nine children to rubber tapper parents who said he was a no-hoper in studies. But look at him now. Not only has a law degree but is also Minister of Human Resource and Member of Parliament for Ipoh Barat, Perak.<\/p>\n 2. His Mother’s Sacrifices<\/strong><\/p>\n In 1978, his mother sold pigs to fund his air ticket so that he can go to England to read law. His mom also rears goats and cows to earn extra income to help him throughout his stay in the UK.<\/p>\n 3. A Hardworking Man<\/strong><\/p>\n To earn extra income for his family, he has had to sell nasi lemak made by his mum. He also helped his mother to gather food to feed the animals.<\/p>\n 4. A Hard Life<\/strong><\/p>\n M. Kulasegaran was once selling nasi lemak when suddenly a policeman came asking him why he was outside as a curfew was then being enforced. He then was carted in a truck to the police station and after finding where he lived, he was sent home. However, the police took the nasi lemak he was supposed to sell without paying.<\/p>\n 5. Is Reaching Out to the Indian community in Malaysia<\/strong><\/p>\n M Kulasegaran has planned skills training programmes to equip the younger Indian generation with the skill-set needed to increase their employability.
