Canon Marketing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. continues to deliver on its passion and commitment in creating a greener environment by playing its part in contributing to a sustainable environment for the communities it operates in through its \u2018One Canon One Tree\u2019 programme.<\/p>\n
For the third consecutive year, Canon teamed up with the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to carry out its greening efforts that is also in line with MBSA\u2019s \u2018Shah Alam Trees Life 2018\u2019 initiative which aims to make Shah Alam into a greener city and work towards achieving a Low Carbon City status.<\/p>\n
This year, the \u2018One Canon One Tree\u2019 programme took place in the vicinity of Kawasan Hijau Seksyen 4 in Taman Tasik Shah Alam. Both Canon and MBSA\u2019s green initiatives share common goals in aiming to reduce carbon footprint, raising awareness and cultivating a sense of responsibility in conserving the environment within the community and to create a city-in-a- park for the community.<\/p>\n
Canon Marketing Malaysia president and chief executive office, Andrew Koh explained the \u2018One Canon One Tree\u2019 programme which champions preservation of the environment, aims to improve green landscapes that will not only benefit the environment but give Communities around it the chance to enjoy and live within a harmonious experience with nature.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a leading digital imaging specialist, our responsibility towards our consumers and the community at large extends beyond producing technological advanced and high-quality imaging products, we also are invested in ensuring preservation of the environment in maintaining the well-being of the community. Together we want to make the city greener for everyone,\u201d Koh said.<\/p>\n
Following the 4,000 over trees planted over a space of two years in the Shah Alam neighbourhoods – Setia Alam in 2016 and Bukit Jelutong in 2017, Canon\u2019s partnership with MBSA continues with an additional 2000 trees this year, bringing the total number of trees planted to over 6,000 to date.<\/p>\n
The area of Kawasan Hijau Seksyen 4 was selected this year for Canon\u2019s planting of trees and shrubs as well as painting of park benches as part of MBSA\u2019s 2018 plan to improve the landscape at Taman Tasik Shah Alam and its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
Brightening up the area with vibrant colours and textures, the saplings consists of shade trees, fruit trees, flowering shrubs that provide shade for leisure and recreational activities and beautify the area.<\/p>\n
More importantly, the selected plants will also help the surrounding eco-system by attracting and providing a conducive habitat for a host of birds and insect species.<\/p>\n
Some of the plants that were planted included soursop, mangosteen, Acalypha Wilksiana Red, and Leucophyllum Frutescens.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are truly happy to be working together with MBSA for this on-going initiative for the greater good.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that nurturing the environment and keeping it sustainable to benefit future generations is a continuous effort and we look forward to our continued partnership with MBSA to carry out Canon\u2019s greening initiative through a long-term commitment,\u201d added Koh.<\/p>\n
The \u2018One Canon One Tree\u2019 programme was graced by Tuan Haji Rosli bin Bakar, Deputy Secretary of Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam and Mr Papparaidu Veraman, the Chairman of Shah Alam Trees for Life programme, representing the Mayor of Shah Alam.<\/p>\n
The event saw over 300 participants including employees and families of the Canon group of companies comprising Canon Opto, Canon Machinery, Canon Mailcom, Canon Medical and Canon Marketing, come together with volunteers, MBSA employees, MAHSA University and Sekolah Kebangsaan Subang Bestari 2 students to do their part.<\/p>\n
Koh added that Canon aspires to follow its Kyosei philosophy which emphasizes balancing the company\u2019s responsibilities towards the community and environment with its business interests by coming together and working towards the common good.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that our actions today will impact the future. Canon aims to live up to our Kyosei philosophy by ensuring our innovations are friendlier to nature and promote sustainability.<\/p>\n
