{"id":2504,"date":"2026-01-20T17:46:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/malaysian-business.com\/wptest\/2026\/01\/20\/sc-introduces-framework-to-facilitate-trading-of-digital-assets-in-malaysia\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T18:20:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T18:20:58","slug":"sc-introduces-framework-to-facilitate-trading-of-digital-assets-in-malaysia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malaysian-business.com\/portal\/2026\/01\/20\/sc-introduces-framework-to-facilitate-trading-of-digital-assets-in-malaysia\/","title":{"rendered":"SC Introduces Framework to Facilitate Trading of Digital Assets in Malaysia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) amended its Guidelines on Recognised Markets to introduce new requirements for electronic platforms that facilitate the trading of digital assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the revised guidelines, any person who is interested in operating a digital asset platform is required to apply to the SC to be registered as a recognised market operator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe new framework is part of the SC\u2019s efforts to promote innovation while ensuring investor protection in the trading of digital assets,\u201d said SC chairman, Datuk Syed Zaid Albar . <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added that while there is a framework to facilitate the trading of digital assets, investors are reminded to be mindful of the risks when dealing in digital assets such as sudden price fluctuations and liquidity risks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The amended guidelines follows the coming into force of the Capital Markets and Services (Prescription of Securities) (Digital Currency and Digital Token) Order 2019 on 15 January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any person who is interested to operate a digital asset platform, including those operating within the current transitional period, have to submit an application to the SC by 1 March.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) amended its Guidelines on Recognised Markets to introduce new requirements for electronic platforms that facilitate the trading of digital assets.
