{"id":2569,"date":"2026-01-20T17:46:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/malaysian-business.com\/wptest\/2026\/01\/20\/hong-leong-bank-returns-with-can-you-hack-it\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T17:55:41","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T17:55:41","slug":"hong-leong-bank-returns-with-can-you-hack-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malaysian-business.com\/portal\/2026\/01\/20\/hong-leong-bank-returns-with-can-you-hack-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Leong Bank Returns with Can You Hack It"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can You Hack It, a 24-hour hackathon by Hong Leong Bank Berhad (HLB) is back for the second time following its debut success last year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be held on April 27 and 28 at Menara Hong Leong in Damansara City, it is an initiative by HLB under its digital innovation push, offering prizes of RM15,000 in cash, potential employment opportunities as well as even further funding and support for incubator or accelerator programmes for promising projects that are presented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe were very impressed with the energy and out-of-the-box creative thinking demonstrated by last Hackathon\u2019s participants, especially given the fact that they only had a day to complete the challenge and that\u2019s the reason Can You Hack It is now one of the platforms we use for hiring. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSome of the previous hackathon participants have interned with us and have also joined us full-time. \u00a0 <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn addition, we are also collaborating with some of the teams to commercialise their ideas,\u201d said HLB group managing director and chief executive officer, Domenic Fuda. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis year, apart from discovering fit-to-hire new talent for the bank, we want to focus on finding new thinking around how we can delight our customers through smarter banking experiences,\u201d added Fuda. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A collaboration with JomHack Malaysia, Google\u00a0Cloud\u00a0and Rakuten RapidAPI,\u00a0Can You Hack It\u00a0is one of the Bank\u2019s\u00a0initiatives\u00a0in solving the challenge of hiring fit-for-future talent while immediately rewarding individuals and teams who demonstrate innovation and great ideas for better banking. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These collaborations\u00a0enable\u00a0participants\u00a0to build greater\u00a0functionality and flexibility into their solutions through shared APIs,\u00a0which are\u00a0essentially a standardised way for applications to share information. <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can You Hack It is designed to allow participants to propose their ideas or solve problem statements provided by the Bank, for a better digital banking experience or new financial services, products, coding and validating them, and then demonstrating a working prototype to a panel of HLB\u2019s key executives and observers from the local digital industry and VC scene. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With over 150 FinTech developers and designers in one place, it will explore the limits of their imagination in the field of financial products, banking experiences, and in the discovery of new uses for existing technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can You Hack It, a 24-hour hackathon by Hong Leong Bank Berhad (HLB) is back for the second time following its debut success last year.
