Langkawi, Kedah, March 22 – In conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA ’17) which will be held from 21 to 25 March, 2017, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) through the National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO) is aggressively promoting the development of Malaysian aerospace industry pursuant to the launching of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2015 (LIMA\u201915) two years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The aerospace industry has been identified by the Government as one of the growth sectors and is given major focus under the country’s industrialization & technological development programmes under the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11MP).<\/p>\n
MITI\u2019s initiative on aerospace industry will be highlighted throughout the event. Apart from aerospace industry, MITI will also be showcasing the recent development of the Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (SBSR) industry in Malaysia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
MITI will also host a number of MoU\/MoA exchange to be witnessed by the MITI Minister Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed. These MoU\/MoA are part of the Blueprint 2030 initiatives to promote among others international collaboration, collaborative R&T projects and highly-skilled human capital development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These MoU\/MoA are expected to lead to the implementation of projects that could spur the aerospace industry development. In this regards, NAICO has been playing and will continue to play a critical role in facilitating the implementation of these projects and initiatives.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Throughout the five days of LIMA\u201917, MITI will hold a soft launch of the latest edition of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Report (AIR) as well as organise a series of open forum and talks on topics related to the development of both aerospace and SBSR industries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The AIR will highlight the current performance of the aerospace industry based on the strategies and target set by the Blueprint 2030. The open forum and talks will provide a platform for the industry players to share the latest information of the industry and exchange views on the way forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Apart from the industry representatives, the open forum and talks are expected to attract representatives from the academia, research institutions and relevant government agencies which encompass topics on aerospace industry-led Research & Technology (R&T) and Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP).<\/p>\n
This will be the biggest appearance of MITI at LIMA with the participation of MITI agencies namely Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and SME Corporation Malaysia, as well as, other relevant agencies such as Malaysian Industry- Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Technology Depository Agency (TDA) and Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC).<\/p>\n
\u00a0For public visitors, MITI’s pavillion will be the centre for them to gather latest information on both industries. In an effort to create awareness to the public on the opportunity within the aerospace industry, NAICO will organise an aerospace career talk dedicated for graduates, school leavers and students. NAICO will be supported by MARA as the latter will highlight the programmes offered by its technical institutions.<\/p>\n
