Pengerang, Johor, March 24 – Petronas recently successfully installed two modularised waste heat boilers for its refinery currently under construction at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC), here.<\/p>\n
The two waste heat boilers are important components of the residual fluid catalytic cracking unit (RFCC) within the refinery, which function is to crack hydrotreated atmospheric residue into feedstock for the Stream Cracker facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe successful installation of these two identical waste heat boilers signifies another important milestone in the overall development of the PIC which is poised for successful start-up in the first quarter of 2019,\u201d said Petronas Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC), Ir Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fabricated in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, each waste heat boiler weighs about 2,000 tonnes. They are the biggest modularised waste heat boilers that ever landed on Malaysia\u2019s shores, and recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records.<\/p>\n
Present to witness the installation was Johor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Director, Ir Haji Kormain Haji Mohd Noor.<\/p>\n
At the ceremony, Ir Dr Colin Wong also expressed thanks to all parties involved for the continuous support in the development of the PIC.<\/p>\n
The construction of the waste heat boilers, along with the RFCC, were awarded to the consortium of CTCI Corporation, Chiyoda Corporation, Synerlitz Malaysia Sdn Bhd and MIE Industries Sdn Bhd. Upon completion, PIC\u2019s refinery will have a refining capacity of 300,000 barrels per day (bpd).<\/p>\n
