Kuala Lumpur, 1 April 2020<\/em><\/strong> – <\/em>Coway Malaysia donated 300 of its air purifiers to over 38 public hospitals across Malaysia designated to treat COVID-19 patients. In addition, the company has committed to make a monetary contribution of RM300,000 to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).<\/p>\n

The CSR initiative is in line with the company\u2019s commitment to promote the importance of Life-Changing Air and by extension to help Malaysians, particularly the most vulnerable COVID-19 patients in hospitals and the frontline healthcare personnel attending to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe firmly believe in goodness! We believe that the sum of our actions will eventually create a better world to live in,\u201d said Kyle Choi Ki Ryong, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a thought leader in the area of clean air, we recognise the urgency to respond and act swiftly to address the country\u2019s needs at this critical time. Coway wants to do its part as a corporate citizen of Malaysia with regards to the respiratory health of the\u00a0rakyat<\/em>\u00a0and to provide the much-needed support\u201d.<\/p>\n

Expressing his gratitude, MOH Secretary General Datuk Seri Dr. Chen Chaw Min said: \u201cThe Malaysian government, the Ministry of Health, and by extension, the hospitals and patients are grateful for the generosity of Coway Malaysia as a caring corporate and global citizen. We appreciate your solidarity with us to combat this dangerous virus that has affected many countries around the world, but has not broken our spirit and humanity\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Health will ensure that the air purifiers and the contributions will be used prudently in the public hospitals and respiratory health facilities across the nation, which are most in need of assistance,\u201d Chen added. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the hospitals and centres slated to receive the Coway air purifiers are: Sungai Buloh Hospital, Kuala Lumpur Hospital\u2019s Institute of Respiratory Medicine, Penang Hospital, Sultanah Hospital (Johor Bahru), Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (Kuantan), Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (Ipoh), Malacca Hospital, Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (Seremban), Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Kota Kinabalu) and Sarawak General Hospital (Kuching).<\/p>\n

Choi expressed hope that the sponsored air purifiers will help enhance MOH\u2019s existing efforts to ensure cleaner air in their dedicated respirator and infectious disease centres in all hospitals treating COVID-19 patients. He also thanked CJ Logistics which assisted in delivering the air purifiers to the public hospitals in various parts of the country during the Movement Control Order period.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoway is keenly aware of how important clean air is to facilitate improved respiratory health of patients, especially for vulnerable patients who have underlying health issues including respiratory health problems such as asthma, as well as among the elderly community. This is why the contribution of air purifiers is crucial,\u201d he said. Clean air, he added, is just as vital for all serving in the healthcare system within these hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoway is mindful of the growing concerns within the Malaysian society with the escalating number of cases, particularly in recent weeks. We also empathise with other countries around the world which are facing the same battle,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
