Kuala Lumpur, April 27 — Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (EXIM Bank) in collaboration with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) yesterday invited a group of 171 orphans from Madrasah Hashimiah (MH) to spend a fun-filled day at Zoo Negara.<\/p>\n
Madrasah Hashimiah (MH) located in Selayang is home to more than a hundred Rohingya children whom are refugees aging from four years old up to 18 years old. This home derived its source of income solely through donations from corporate companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), charitable organizations, zakat and personal donation to sustain their monthly expenses.<\/p>\n
EXIM Bank chairman Datuk Mat Noor Nawi said the programme was aimed at taking the orphans to enjoy outdoor activities, especially so when some of them had not visited the Zoo Negara.<\/p>\n
“(The idea of) This trip came about after we visited the madrasah early this year. It is hoped such a programme will give them the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and gain knowledge on the protection and conservation of animals at Zoo Negara,” he said after the programme here.<\/p>\n
The children were taken around Zoo Negara for a tour by zoo tour guides, educating them on types of animal species and the importance of these animals to the ecosystem. They were also treated to a show performance by a pair of Macaw Birds which was sponsored by EXIM Bank.<\/p>\n
Early this year, EXIM Bank had donated basic necessities worth RM10,000 for the daily use of the children of Madrasah Hashimiah.<\/p>\n
