Malaysia\u2019s leading professional IT training provider, Iverson Associates, has recently expanded its comprehensive list of courses with the introduction of the Microsoft Professional Program on Data Science.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With the launch, Malaysia is now the first country in the Asia Pacific region to announce the commercial availability of the program and Iverson Associates is the first training provider in the country to offer the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Through this flexible program consisting of nine courses that are taught through online classes, business professionals of all skill levels can equip themselves with the right knowledge and skillsets required in the rapidly developing field of data analytics in a flexible manner.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The launch of the new program was made in tandem with the growing demand for data scientists in recent years across various business sectors in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
In today\u2019s digital era, an estimated 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created daily across the world. Within this large volume of data, many industries have discovered the potential to understand consumer habits and trends that can give them a competitive edge and provide a better consumer experience. Turning data into insight has since become a highly sought after skill, giving rise to the field of Data Science. However, there is currently a global talent shortage with demand for data scientists projected to exceed supply by more than 50% by 2018. A leading cause of the shortage is the lack of educational institutions that offer Data Science programs. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Recognising the growing importance of education in the field, Iverson Associates, who possesses over 20 years of providing professional IT training for businesses, has chosen to work closely with Microsoft to introduce the Microsoft Professional Program on Data Science in Malaysia, to help develop Malaysia\u2019s Data Science talent pool.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The program is based on a series of Massive Open Online Curriculum (MOOC) developed by Microsoft focusing on Data Science that is hosted by Microsoft on the Open edX platform founded by Harvard University and MIT. \u00a0The curriculum was piloted in late 2016. The goal of the initiative by Microsoft is to distribute and provide public access to knowledge and expertise, which were once only available to a small group of data professionals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The program will help accelerate the nation\u2019s target to train up 20,000 data professionals in the next four years, a profession termed as one of today\u2019s hottest jobs by Microsoft.\u00a0<\/p>\n
