This includes boosting rail and land connectivity for passengers to and from the airport.

The most notable introduction is the SkyPark KTM Rail Link that is set to be completed by end 2017. It will serve as an extension of the Subang Jaya line, and see the airport directly connected to KL Sentral. Such an enhancement to the airport’s connectivity will see it transformed to a fully integrated transit hub for both leisure and business travel.

“SkyPark Terminal recently surpassed the 15 million passenger count, a long way from 300,000 passengers in our first year of operations in 2008. We believe the efforts taken to improve connectivity will augur well towards increasing passenger count as it will become more convenient and cost effective for them to travel seamlessly from one point to another,” said Tan Sri Ravindran Menon, Executive Director of Subang SkyPark Sdn. Bhd.

“We are looking forward to expanding our airport, and plans are already taking shape with the proposed development of Terminal 2 to begin at the end of 2017 which will see an increase in capacity to 5 million passengers. These developments will have a positive impact on Malaysia’s domestic tourism scene, particularly in the sense of connectivity when it comes to domestic travel,” he added.

Other notable efforts to boost connectivity was inked in December 2016, when Skypark Terminal collaborated with Grab – South East Asia’s leading ride-hailing service – where a booking kiosk would be placed at the Arrivals hall for passengers to book their rides to their preferred destination while waiting for their luggage, and be on their way the moment they step out of the airport.

SkyPark Terminal, which has been dubbed as Malaysia’s Busiest Domestic Airport, is also home to a host of retail outlets ranging from F & B, clothing, aircraft simulators to accessories. The brands available at SkyPark aren’t just big household names, but also smaller local brands and ventures.

“SkyPark Terminal, provides the perfect platform for small brands and SMEs to prosper, particularly with its ever-increasing footfall. We are glad that we can provide such benefits to Malaysian SMEs,’ said Mr Francis Anthony, Senior Vice President of SkyPark Terminal.

“I am happy to point out that with our popular mall section, which includes seven service counters, 41 retail and 20 F&B outlets, and more to come, SkyPark Terminal is more than just an airport; indeed, it has become a lifestyle destination,” he added.

A contributing factor to the growing popularity of the airport’s mall section are the activities carried out to keep passengers and visitors engaged. Recently, in conjunction with the start of the holy month of Ramadhan, SkyPark Terminal’s guests were entertained by the serene sounds of a Ghazal performance performed by the renowned Anjung Tradisi.

SkyPark Terminal is also a gateway to many of Malaysia’s renowned tourist spots such as Penang, Langkawi, Johor Baru, Kota Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Alor Setar, Kerteh, as well as international destinations such as Singapore and Batam, Indonesia. Located a mere 30 minutes from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and with both Firefly and Malindo operating out of it, SkyPark Terminal is the more convenient option to various tourist destinations in the country.

SkyPark Terminal looks forward to an increase in number of passengers with efforts taken to improve connectivity, cost, and convenience.
