With 33 Samsung employee volunteers from Korea and 20 from Malaysia, the initiative was conducted in Malaysia for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a global leader in technology, we at Samsung strive to create a better world. We believe that Samsung can be a true global citizen when we use the talent of our people, our advanced technology and our specialist expertise to address social issues of our time. With the global Samsung Employee Volunteer Programme, we hope the community of Batang Kali will see a brighter tomorrow,\u201d said Dauk Roh Jae Yeol, Director of Corporate Affairs, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.<\/p>\n<p>From 24th to 28th July, the volunteers conducted 5 IT courses to teach 30 teachers and 60 students of SMK Syed Mashor, basic skills which includes Java programming basic Course, Google Docs Course, Microsoft Excel &amp; Access Course, Computer Hardware Engineering Course, and Photoshop &amp; PowerPoint course. The volunteers also conducted a vocational Youth Entrepreneurship Training, to equip the students with knowledge and skills of running an online business and entrepreneurship, should they wish to do so in the future. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Flown in all the way from Samsung Electronics Korea, Oh Yujeong was one of the employee volunteers who conducted an IT course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my pleasure to share several useful skills that I know with these students and their teachers so that they can apply them in their daily lives for a better future,\u201d she said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Samsung also brightened up the school by refurbishing the school\u2019s IT classroom and painting a mural on the outside wall of the classroom. Additionally, the Samsung employee volunteers also installed new energy saving lights and Samsung air-conditioners, as well as upgraded 30 units of computers to brand new Samsung monitors to ensure that the community of Batang Kali can learn in a more enhanced and comfortable environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great programme that allows us to share our technology and knowledge with the community of Batang Kali. I hope that we will continue having this sort of initiatives in the future with different groups of volunteers so we can bring positive change to more parts of the world one step at a time,\u201d said Ismanizam Yahaya, employee volunteer from Samsung Malaysia Electronics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The employees of Samsung Electronics have been participating in the global EVP since 2010, its first project in Senegal, Africa. Since then, 1,330 employee volunteers have created positive change in 35 countries, including Asia and South America. Beginning this July, 250 Samsung employee volunteers will travel to 7 countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Peru, Ghana and Nepal, \u00a0to carry out the global EVP, starting with this one in Malaysia.
