As part of the Government\u2019s effort to strengthen relationship with the private sector, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has organised a \u201cTurun Padang\u201d Programme to two Malaysia\u2019s Mid-Tier Companies (MTCs) namely Mega Fortris (M) Sdn Bhd and Les\u2019 Copaque Production Sdn Bhd recently.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of International Trade and industry, Datuk Chua Tee Yong, said that this initiative has allowed the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) and MATRADE to further understand the needs of MTCs as well as the issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Mid-Tier Ramp Up programme was introduced to further intensify MTCs\u2019 market access into new key potential markets and MATRADE themselves will be working closely with MTCs to link them with potential foreign business partners, distributors and target customers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the first year of the establishment of the Mid-Tier Development Programme in 2014, the total export revenue for the companies under the programme stood at RM4.15bil. Since then, their exports have been increasing tremendously year-on-year and has even managed to keep the exports on the upward momentum despite the current uncertain economic condition,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
MITI is expecting an increase of 10% to 30% in total export revenue from MTCs \u00a0this year, given their current positive performances as the overall export revenue in 2016 were RM6.82 billion which is an increase of 10.41% from RM 6.18 billion in 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile. Les\u2019 Copaque Production Sdn Bhd, a local animated content publishing company that was responsible over the popularity of Upin and Ipin animation announces that they are in the midst of developing their own theme park in Xian, China.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are currently in talks with the government over there and are looking for investors. If everything materialises in time, hopefully we will sign the memorandum of agreement with them in October,\u201d said the managing director of Les\u2019 Copaque Production Sdn Bhd, Burnahudin Md Radzi.\u00a0<\/p>\n
