\u201cThe rise in the applications of technology, automation, artificial intelligence and robotics will transform industries, jobs and way of work. \u00a0Many new opportunities will present themselves, together with the disproportionately negative impacts, especially on women,\u201d added Sharifah Hapsah. She was speaking at the Jom Niaga conference held last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In conjunction with 55th Anniversary of National Council of Women\u2019s Organisation Malaysia (NCWO), Jom Niaga Conference was back this year with the theme, Women as Catalysts of the 4th Industrial Revolution.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As a joint initiative of Pejabat Penasihat Pembangunan Keusahawanan dan Iktisas Wanita Jabatan Perdana Menteri and The National Council of Women\u2019s Organisations\u2019 (NCWO) Malaysia, Jom Niaga Conference 2017 brings along a \u00a0series of dialogues and discussions on the challenges faced and opportunities reserved for women entrepreneurs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Besides Sharifah Hapsah, the conference saw an esteemed line of speakers such as Prof. Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, President of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Group Chairman of Pemodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Realising the inevitable effects of technology on economic sectors and future of jobs, this year, Jom Niaga leads the way in preparing Malaysian women with the exposure and knowledge on fourth Industrial Revolution and the effects it will have primarily on women.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With this joint initiative with the government, we hope that women would pave their way with the knowledge given and bridge the gaps as catalysts. NCWO will continue to help and guide the women of this country to succeed in entrepreneurship.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen entrepreneurs should optimize the sophistication of information technology facilities to advance their businesses, including penetrating the overseas market. The goal of upholding women in the economy is to ensure the involvement of women as decision makers\u201d, added Nadira Mohd Yusoff as the Chairman of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Committee, National Council of Women\u2019s Organisations\u2019 (NCWO) Malaysia.<\/p>\n
To equip the audience with more information on the topic, there was a panel session discussing the 4th Industrial Revolution and The Impact on Women in the Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship, Talents and Jobs joined by Mr Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, CEO of Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Ms. Sumitra Nair, Vice President, Talent & Digital Entrepreneurship of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn (MDEC), and Mdm.
