Franchise International Malaysia 2018 (FIM 2018) recorded a potential transaction value of RM410 million, an increase of more than ten percent as compared to the previous year with RM373 million.
Whereas, RM90 million was contributed from the potential international franchise transactions value through the Franchise In-Buying Mission (FIBM) program.
MFA Chairman, Datuk Radzali Bin Hassan said, the achievement was the result from the franchise package offered by the 88 locals and international franchise companies.
FIM 2018 involves the participation of international franchise companies comprising of 11 countries including United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and the Philippines.
Throughout the program, FIM 2018 were attended by 10,511 local and international visitors with a total number of 940 potential franchisees.
FIM 2018 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) was officiated by the Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, Dato 'Seri Hamzah Zainudin on April 21, 2018.
Also held in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of FIM 2018, were Certificate Presentation Ceremony to the new registered franchisors and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Exchange between Marrybrown Sdn Bhd (Malaysia) and Famcorp Sdn Bhd (Japan) and between the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) and Baitulmal Professional Institute (IPB).
Nonetheless, FIM this year also brings several programs and activities apart from the main the international exhibition and conference, such as Franchise Business Matching, Franchise Consult Session, Franchise In-Buying Mission, Celebrity’s Talks, and many more. These are among the value added elements to further assists both the exhibitors as well as the visitors to get more exposure and gain more knowledge and information throughout the 3-days event.
FIM also recorded more than 100 business matching sessions conducted between the franchisors and potential franchisees. While, for the Franchise In-Buying Mission (FIBM) involving sixteen (16) international representatives from thirteen (13) countries such as Hungary, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Indonesia, Philippines, Russia, Maldives and Vietnam also contributed to the FIM2018’s potential investment value, he added.
This annual event was co-organized by MFA and KPDNKK and this year was the 25th series of FIM.
