Malaysian supermodel, actress and TV host Amber Chia has such a commanding presence. With a large tote bag on one side of her hand, she walks in gracefully into her office while her flawless face beaming with a wide smile. 

As she greets and welcomes everyone to her office, you kind of understand that the ever so friendly Amber Chia was born to be a people’s person.  

Amber Chia started modelling since 1999. Winner of the Guess Watches Timeless Beauty International Model Search 2004 title, Amber Chia became the world's first Asian model to triumph at global model searches; and the first Asian model to campaign for Guess Watches worldwide.

Fast forward today, her passion has evolved into an empire via The Amber Chia Academy which is located in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.

“I started Amber Chia Academy 10 years ago and today I can’t believe that we have achieve this milestone!”

The model- entrepreneur – actress keeps herself busy with students, organizing modelling search, her own modelling works, judging competitions and tv drama productions. 

However, since outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order was put in force, she has not been able to continue her brick and mortar business as usual. But nothing can hold this beauty queen’s willpower.

 “If I can’t change what is happening now, I have to change myself,” she says.

Amber straightaway adapted to the new normal where she shifted her physical modelling courses to online. She goes live every day in front of her students and she invests more time and money into creating online contents via her Youtube channel, Amber Chia TV and via her social media platforms.

“Digital world is so important to everyone now, if you don’t adapt, you will be gone” she adds.

Negative criticism is clearly tough but, “If someone is willing to comment on you, doesn’t matter if its good or bad, it means that you are on the right track, people are starting to care”.
