KUALA LUMPUR, 6 JULY 2020 – Malaysia’s leading eCommerce platform Lazada Malaysia is stepping up its efforts with a Prawn Farmers Initiative, and helping agriculture-based industries bounce back by bringing local prawn farmers online for the Lazada 7.7 Mid-Year Super Sale. For the first time, local prawns from Selangor State will be featured in a dedicated livestreaming session at midnight, July 7, offering fresh crustaceans directly from the sea to homes.
After receiving word that prawn farmers were unable to sell their daily catch, Lazada reached out to EARWYNN Prawn, a local prawn distributor that works directly with local prawn farmers to bring their export quality, antibiotic-free, and MyGAP certified Black Tiger prawns on the platform. In addition, Lazada worked to create special marketing promotions and a dedicated delivery service to kick start sales during the 7.7 campaign.
KUALA LUMPUR, 6 July 2020 - 30,000 new to e-commerce micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will receive over RM1,500 in seller benefits each, as part of Shopee’s commitment in the PENJANA Micro and SMEs E-commerce Campaign that was recently launched by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). The initiative, part of the ‘Propel Businesses’ component of the PENJANA short-term economic recovery plan, is expected to revitalise the economy by accelerating the digitalisation of local businesses and providing new to e-commerce sellers a boost.
Earlier in April and May, Shopee on its own volition injected RM15 million into the Malaysian economy via the Shopee Seller Support Package to help both new and existing sellers cushion the impact of Covid-19, as the outbreak resulted in the loss of income especially during the movement control period. Participating in the PENJANA Micro and SMEs E-commerce Campaign makes it the second support package that Shopee will be funding for Malaysian businesses, and this time with even better perks.
