Barcelona, Spain, March 2 – Axiata Digital, a wholly owned subsidiary of leading Asian telecommunications group, Axiata Group Bhd, and Huawei, a leader in global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote Internet of Things (IoT) services across Asia. 

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide its cutting edge IoT connectivity technologies and application verticals such as connected car, smart home, smart meters and others. Axiata Digital, in turn, will provide the cloud-based IoT application enablement platform that allows for services to be deployed rapidly and cost effectively.

The IoT collaboration between Axiata and Huawei is expected to benefit Axiata subscribers across 10 countries in the region, leveraged through its mobile businesses as well as portfolio of online services.

Through IoT, a wide range of connected products such as smart devices, automobiles, homes, and even cities can help to reduce wastage, improve efficiency such as energy consumption, ultimately improving a person’s way of life and work.

As part of its IoT collaboration effort, Axiata Digital and Huawei have at the start of this year, worked together to jointly launch the connected car service across several countries within the next few weeks.
