Subang Jaya, April 3 – Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd launched its fourth co-branding effort with a State Football Association, this time with Selangor Football Association (FAS) and Visa.

Bank Islam is providing an opportunity to the Selangor ‘Red Giants’ loyal supporters to contribute to their favourite football club aside from reaping the outstanding benefits the card offers and owning the exclusively designed card.

The Bank Islam Visa Selangor FA ‘Red Giants’ Debit Card-i was unveiled by Bank Islam’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Khairul Kamarudin together with the President of FAS, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal in Subang Jaya recently.

Khairul said, “The series of co-branding efforts with State Football Associations started with Kelantan Football Association, followed by Pahang Football Association and Kedah Football Association. These efforts were a continuation of our first exclusive collaboration with Football Association Malaysia in 2013 to launch the Bank Islam Visa Team Harimau Debit Card-i.

“Our variety of debit card offerings is well received by more than three million cardholders nationwide. We are also targeting an increase of 50,000 cardholders with the launch of this new co-branding effort with FAS.” “

In line with Bank Negara Malaysia’s aspiration, the main focus behind these co-branding efforts is to create a cashless society by targeting the younger generation to be on trend with technological development in banking products and services.

This newly launched cobranding debit card is one the Bank’s strategies to provide our cardholders with a host of distinctive experiences by using Bank Islam Visa Debit Card-i. These debit cards will also allow them to lead simpler lifestyles without having the need to stop at the ATMs numerous times to make cash withdrawals,” he added.

With this debit card, Selangor ‘Red Giants’ supporters will be able to portray their loyalty as well as contribute to the development of FAS through the annual fee that will be partially channelled to the association.

This card will also carry the contactless payment feature via Visa payWave; providing simplicity to the cardholders’ spending experiences. It also includes the PIN & Pay feature aimed at further enhancing the security of payment cards usage at the merchant’s Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals.

Subahan said that this initiative gives the supporters a chance to support the team even more. It also encourages fans to go cashless with the new debit card.

This card will also enable fans to contribute to the development programmes that FAS are organizing via the partial Annual Fee allocated by Bank Islam; which is crucial as FAS aims to be fully independent from state government’s funding by 2018.

The supporters can be more involved with the team’s development with their contribution through this card. “We will have more promotions at a later stage which will allow fans to enjoy discounts at selected merchants.

“FAS also aims to be fully independent from state government’s funding by 2018 and targets to further collaborate with other corporate,” Subahan added.
