Kuala Lumpur, March 21 – Cenviro Sdn Bhd, a leader in integrated environmental solutions in Malaysia, is investing RM20 million to deploy multiple SAP solutions in the first phase of its digital transformation.
The solutions, including SAP Suite on HANA with IS-U Waste Management, will leverage on the services of Deloitte Consulting SEA with iTelligence Outsourcing MSC as hosting partner. IS-U is SAP’s industry-specific solution for the utilities vertical which includes best practices for waste management within an integrated system.
The platform is designed to facilitate business process simplification and improve decision making and pave the way for future innovations. It includes capabilities to optimise activities for performance management, sales, finance, operations and human resources.
Cenviro group managing director Khalid Bahsoon at the signing ceremony for the SAP software license and support agreement said the organisation’s digital transformation would likely take four phases.
He expects the first phase, the foundation of the whole system, to take some 18 months to complete, during which Cenviro will monitor the progress to determine what needs to be done in the subsequent phases.
“With 20 non-integrated and distributed systems operating across multiple industries, and with such a broad scale of responsibilities, we saw the importance of moving away from fragmented processes to automating and consolidating our systems to support operations across the organisation. The management saw that it was imperative to resolve this challenge by integrating and centralising our systems before we embark on further planned expansion in our businesses and facilities,” Khalid said.
As Cenviro is growing rapidly, the new system would also facilitate future growth, including mergers and acquisitions (M&As), he added.
Khalid shared that Cenviro acquired a 40% stake in e-waste recovery company Shan Poornam Metals Sdn Bhd last year and aims to increase that stake by another 20% by the third quarter of this year. The company is keen on acquiring other companies in the recycling and recovery sector.
He said that as Cenviro grows, so would the complexity of its businesses. The e-waste business alone generates some 600 products. Being able to generate real time inventory and other reports would enable its management make fast decisions, he said.
SAP Malaysia managing director Terrence Yong said: “SAP has long been a forerunner in helping companies simplify their operations and our mission is to lead the global transformation in the new digital economy, empowering companies to reimagine their businesses using the SAP digital business framework. We’re excited to be working with Cenviro ona project of this scale and look forward to working hand-in-hand with the company as it embarks on further expansion.”
