Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) as the Platinum Sponsor of 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 and 9th ASEAN Para Games 2017 (also known as Kuala Lumpur 2017 or KL2017), once again will be uniting all Malaysians to show and gather support for the national athletes who will compete and participate in both Games next month.

TM will be providing high speed Internet connectivity as well as broadcast facilities for the media centre, International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) Secretariat room at all 38 sports venues, enabling real time, accurate coverage and dissemination of results both locally as well as internationally, for sports fans in the region to experience the Games.

TM’s Centre of Excellence for Mobility, webe, has also expanded its service coverage at Stadium Negara and the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) where some of the games will be held to give the supporters even better experience. In addition, webe is also sponsoring 1,000 webe SIM cards to the national contingent to keep them stay connected with their families and loved ones.

“TM is proud to be the trusted partner of KL2017 to bring the Games and comprehensive coverage to Malaysians anytime and anywhere, while galvanising their support for our national athletes as they compete for sporting glory on our home ground. As Malaysia’s Convergence Champion, we also provide multiple platforms for everyone to engage with, follow and share all the exciting moments of KL2017,” said Izlyn Ramli, Vice President, Group Brand and Communication, TM.

Among the digital platforms is the “Kuala Lumpur 2017 Official Channel” on YouTube which hosts 15 channels including two (2) live channels for selected events and 13 video-on-demand channels. TM also further enriches the channel’s content offerings through inspirational stories of our Malaysian athletes and communities. There is also the KL2017 microsite on the TM Team Malaysia website that hosts information about the Games. These digital assets will be the medium for Malaysians to watch live matches and stay updated with results and match schedules. It will ensure that they catch and share the best moments of all their favourite games.

In addition to making the Games accessible through multiple platforms and devices, TM through TM Team Malaysia, has also lined up an array of exciting activities related to KL2017 for local sports fans to enjoy through its on-ground events nationwide.

“TM is very honoured to be powering the national team by connecting Malaysians and communicating the national spirit through TM Team Malaysia, which we hope will give our athletes the boost when it is most needed because we believe in their potentials,” said Izlyn.

“The athletes and the Malaysians inspired by them have a positive amplifier effect on us as a nation and how we can transform our youth through sports,” she added.

Launched in 2011, TM Team Malaysia galvanises the support from all Malaysians for the national athletes and national contingent by mobilising, organising and energising supporters under one flag to ignite the spirit of the athletes as they compete for the nation’s pride. TM Team Malaysia was announced as the “Official Supporter of the National Athletes” by YB. Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports at the 50th Anugerah Sukan Negara last year.

To further ignite our athlete’s spirit, TM has produced an inspirational video commercial titled “Forever Our Pride” that has been aired on local TV stations as well as all cinemas nationwide to remind us of the hardships in the quest for national sporting glory.

Members of the public also have a chance to win a ‘Team Malaysia’ tiger-striped jerseys and tickets to watch KL2017 live just by displaying the ‘SemangatKu’ car stickers of which one (1) million copies are currently being distributed by Astro Radio Cruisers that are in Team Malaysia livery as well as at Kedai Mesra Petronas, selected PLUS Highway reload booths and TMpoint outlets nationwide.

The ‘Gemuruh Suara’ song – first heard in 2011 ahead of the 26th SEA Games when the Jalur Gemilang was officially handed over to the Malaysian contingent – was also re-scored and given an even catchier tune that features Raja Syahiran, Elizabeth Tan and Ayda Jebat. Against the song’s new arrangement, Malaysians can cheer the national athletes on with a specially created chant by TM which all TM Team Malaysia members can learn from five (5) fun videos that will be made available on the KL2017 Official Channel on YouTube as well as the Team Malaysia Facebook page and TM Team Malaysia website.

In conjunction with KL 2017 SEA Games in August, HyppTV also introduced three (3) dedicated Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017), including one (1) FREE Interactive Channel for HyppTV customers. The KL 2017 SEA Games channels on HyppSports HD (Channel 720 and 721) will broadcast the coverage of all 38 sports events of KL 2017 SEA Games.
