AirAsia celebrated its new direct route from Langkawi to Shenzhen, with an officiating ceremony by Datuk Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia at Kompleks Lang Merah, Langkawi International Airport last Saturday.
This new direct flight which will be operating three times a week, is poised to further boost the tourism on the island, in line with the Langkawi Development Authority’s (LADA) mission to tap into new foreign markets. This new unique route to China enables Langkawi to be even further developed as a world-class tourist destination.
AirAsia now flies to seven destinations from Langkawi, with four domestic routes; Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kuching as well as three international routes; Singapore, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. AirAsia also connects Langkawi to 15 countries such as Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan, and others via Fly-Thru.
This year, AirAsia also celebrated its 10-year anniversary of flying into Shenzhen, China. The low-cost airline started its operation in Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport a decade ago with a breakthrough low-cost air travel concept that differentiated the airline from the traditional Chinese airlines.
On 15 July 2007, AirAsia introduced direct flights from Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen-Bangkok with Shenzhen-Kota Kinabalu added in the same year, and now Shenzhen-Langkawi marked AirAsia’s fourth route from Shenzhen.
In conjunction with the officiating ceremony, AirAsia is offering promotional all-in-fares from RM159* one way from Langkawi to Shenzhen from 21 August to 27 August 2017 for travel period between 21 August 2017 and 25 February 2018.
