Kuala Lumpur, March 29 – Protasco Bhd recently handed the keys to 15 civil servants who bought apartments in Putrajaya under Phase 1 of ‘Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia’ (PPA1M), the government programme to build affordable housing for them.
The construction, engineering and property development group completed the construction of the 1,680 affordable apartments in Putrajaya recently, three months ahead of time, and received the Certificate of Compliance and Completion (CCC) for PPA1M Larai earlier this month.
“Owning your own home is a big step, and we are proud to have contributed to helping civil servants achieve that dream,” said Dato’ Sri Chong Ket Pen, Protasco Executive Vice Chairman and Group Managing Director.
“We will continue to contribute to this important objective as we will begin constructing Phase 2 of the PPA1M Putrajaya in Q2 of this year,” he added.
The PPA1M project has been a significant contributor to Protasco’s performance since 2014 when it was awarded the Phase 1 project worth RM563 million. In 2016, Perbadanan Putrajaya awarded the Phase 2 project worth RM300 million to construct 1,100 units.
PPA1M aims to increase the supply of affordable housing, priced at between RM150,000 to RM300,000, for civil servants. Civil servants working for the federal and state governments, local authorities, and federal statutory bodies are eligible to purchase PPA1M homes.
Recently, the Government increased its target to 200,000 housing units throughout the country by the year 2018, from the original target of 100,000 units.
