Kuching, Feb 17 Feb – Hong Leong Bank Bhd today shared its plans to step up its presence in Sarawak and Sabah by strengthening the Bank’s community presence.
Present at their inaugural HLB Regional Community Banking Workshop in Kuching today, the Bank’s Senior Management team shared their plans to strengthen its senior leadership roles and invest in local teams to build deeper community knowledge and experience, such that the Bank would be better positioned to cater to the local financial needs of its customers and potential new customers. This approach will be rolled out nationwide progressively.
“One of HLB’s focus areas is to step up our service levels to customers within the different States. Malaysia’s diverse economic base is very much reflected in the business sector contributions of each State to the nation’s gross domestic product. To cater to the financial needs of local communities, the Bank needs local talent, local insights, local knowledge and local experience,” says Domenic Fuda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HLB.
“This initiative is not new to HLB as we have been piloting this model in Penang in 2016, with much success. The pilot has proven that the presence of senior leadership on the ground has allowed for better synergies between the retail and corporate banking teams, faster business growth as well as greater customisation in terms of solutions for our customers; this is the outcome we are expecting.”
The benefits of HLB’s Community Banking approach are two-pronged: to firstly boost the customer service delivery to drive better financial performance and at the same time, offer broader business exposure and career opportunities for staff.
Also present at the event were the newly appointed regional leadership teams led by Moses Wong King Kiu, Senior Regional Head for Sarawak and Sim Yuk Kiong, Senior Regional Head for Sabah.
