SUBANG JAYA, Feb 22 – Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd is introducing new technology – the Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) at all its 4G LTE sites this year that will offer high definition voice calls, high speed internet and faster call connection. Currently, Digi is finalising with partners before launching VoWifi later this year.

Prior to that, Digi is set to activate the 900MHz spectrum nationwide in July, whereby users will experience stronger indoor coverage, wider outdoor coverage and better internet security.

In 2016, its 4G LTE network covers 85% of its nationwide coverage. It expanded its faster LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network coverage to serve 41% of Malaysians in 61 cities and towns.

“We have been aggressively expanding our network across Malaysia over the past year and today, we are thrilled to be able to serve 85% of Malaysians with high speed, consistent internet on our ‘Network Built for Entertainment’.” said Chief Network Officer, Kesavan Sivabalan.

According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Network Performance Report 2016, Digi’s 4G LTE network ranked the best network in Malaysia with the lowest latency and high responsiveness.

Report also stated that Digi’s 4G LTE network showed consistency speeds in Sabah, Sarawak, Northern and Southern regions.

“We are not obsessed with speed. Two years ago, when we started rolling out our 4G LTE network, we were already fast enough to provide a high-speed internet experience for our customers to do everything from messaging and social media to streaming video content. Instead, we are more focused on building network performance to provide a better and consistent experience with very little lag or buffering,” he added.
