Siemens is interested in making its bid for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project that it believes will be the new driver of growth connecting the 2 countries and bring about huge development potential by effecting change in the landscape of travel.

As a global powerhouse in the electrification value chain and technology leader in automation and digitalization, Siemens is seeking the best and most capable local as well as international partners for this important project to be well-prepared for the upcoming tender end of this year.

Siemens Malaysia adds that its keen interest in the KL-SG HSR stems from the good proposition and compelling package it believes it can offer, as well as its extensive experience it brings to the table with complex integrated solutions around the world and in Malaysia.

Apart from that, Siemens has the necessary project management expertise to competently and professionally manage highly complex engineering and supply projects. In Malaysia, Siemens’ mobility footprint has been permanently present since 1982.

Around the world, Siemens has also proven its capability with international high-speed trains, such as the supply of Eurostar e320 high-speed train for the London-Brussels Channel Tunnel underground connectivity services, high-speed train from Barcelona-Madrid in Spain, as well as in Russia – underscoring how the versatile technology it invents and manufactures can adapt to a range of different environments. It is today one of the world’s leading suppliers in rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification and road traffic management providing future-proof, safe and efficient transportation of people and goods.

Meanwhile, Siemens Malaysia has exceptionally delivered the 58 sets of automated trains for the MRT Line 1; the full phase of which was recently opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Additionally, it has also received a Letter of Acceptance for the LRT3 signaling and intrusion prevention system and platform screen for this 36km line that spans Bandar Utama to Johan Setia.

Siemens Singapore – which will too be involved in the KL-SG HSR – boast a mobility experience that has spanned 16 years since 2001; its deliverables include the metro train, power supply system for the MRT, signalling and automated train control and Additional & Alternation project works. The KL-SG HSR is expected to complete by 2026, and will run at an operational speed of more than 300 km/h that will cut travelling time from 6 hours to only 90 minutes between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
