KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 2017 –Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) announced its partnership with Microsoft Malaysia today for cloud adoption in its teaching, learning, research and operational excellence.
A 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the partnership has been signed between the two parties and will see to it that UTP leverage on Microsoft’s cutting-edge technologies like Cortana Analytics, Power BI, Azure and Machine Learning will enable students and faculty members to connect data across sources, drive intelligent decisions and outcomes and transform processes from end to end.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary in Malaysia, UTP is also the first University in Malaysia to sign a MoU that covers Microsoft Cortana Intelligence Education Program, to hone graduates with Data Science skills and help the country achieve the aspirations of 2000 Data Science Professionals and 20, 000 Data Professionals by 2020.
The Vice Chancellor of UTP, Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Haji Hashim said, “At UTP, we are mindful of the evolving technology ecosystem that changed the way we look at, solve and commercialize business problems. To ensure our students are best prepared to perform in this setup, we need to equip them with the most advanced learning tools and our partnership with Microsoft is a great first step in this direction.”
By way of this collaboration, all 8500 students and 900 staff of UTP will have access to various services to help create immersive and inclusive experiences for lifelong learning, stimulate development of essential life skills. These include:
