Professional IT training provider, Iverson Associates, has recently expanded its comprehensive list of courses with the introduction of the Microsoft Professional Program on Data Science.

With the launch, Malaysia is now the first country in the Asia Pacific region to announce the commercial availability of the program and Iverson Associates is the first training provider in the country to offer the program.

Through this flexible program consisting of nine courses that are taught through online classes, business professionals of all skill levels can equip themselves with the right knowledge and skillsets required in the rapidly developing field of data analytics in a flexible manner. The launch of the new program was made in tandem with the growing demand for data scientists in recent years across various business sectors in Malaysia.

The program is based on a series of Massive Open Online Curriculum (MOOC) developed by Microsoft focusing on Data Science that is hosted by Microsoft on the Open edX platform founded by Harvard University and MIT.  The curriculum was piloted in late 2016. The goal of the initiative by Microsoft is to distribute and provide public access to knowledge and expertise, which were once only available to a small group of data professionals.

The Microsoft Professional Program on Data Science offered by Iverson Associates is designed to be simple and informative to allow both business professionals and those looking to start their career in data science to quickly become proficient in the field. The program can be accessed easily anytime and anywhere through Iverson’s online learning system and consists of nine detailed courses and a final project before completion.

The program encompasses training in multiple areas such as machine learning, exploring data with code, architecting, delivering relational data warehouses, analyzing Big Data, and visualizing data.

This program is designed to be flexible for students to master the skills at their own pace and can even be learned part-time or full time. Each course can be completed within 5-6 weeks depending on the individual’s experiences or skills. Students who require more hands-on assistance can even opt-in for additional training done by Iverson’s full-time certified professional trainers in its state-of-the-art facilities, at a small additional cost. The program is offered to all for free and students will only need to pay a fee of USD 99.00 should they wish to obtain a verified certificate of completion.

In speaking about accelerating Malaysia’s digital economy, Managing Director of Iverson Associates, Dr. Yap Chee Sing said “With local demand for data scientists in Malaysia expected to exceed 2,000 by 2020, we fully recognise the important role that our company plays in supporting business with Data Science talent that can achieve their business goals.
