Kuala Lumpur, Feb 7 – Former Chatime Master Franchisee for Malaysia, Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, re-affirmed that all its 165 Chatime outlets use only halal-certified ingredients.

CEO Bryan Loo said it has come to his knowledge that certain quarters were trying to cast aspersions on the halal aspect of the business.

“We can categorically state that all ingredients used at all our outlets are halal-certified either by Jakim directly or through Jakim-recognised halal certification bodies and authorities,” he says in a statement.

“You can see our outlets at Petronas, Shell and Caltex service stations and we have been there for the past few years.

“Certainly, as a home-grown company, we understand our multi-racial society and sensitivities as we have been creating products catering to Malaysian taste-buds.

“Moving forward, even with our own brand, we will continue our policy of ensuring only safe and high quality products for all our consumers, especially halal-certified ingredients,” he added.

On the terminated franchise agreement with the franchisor, Loo says: “As always, we continue to reserve our rights to take all action, and to explore all avenues, to protect our rights in this matter.  This would include availing ourselves to all the remedies under the terms of our franchise agreement.”

He says the Company would now focus all its energy and resources on moving forward in its growth story with its 1,000-strong workforce and sub-franchisees now already serving two million customers each month.
