Kuala Lumpur, Feb 6 – The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) is turning 5o this year.
MIA Chief Executive Officer Dr Nurmazilah Datuk Mahzan says turning 50 is a major milestone for an institution while upholding the public interest. MIA membership has increased from 1,619 accountants in 1980 and now, to more than 33,000 accountants registered.
Established on the 30th of September 1967, The MIA plans to kick-start the celebration with a series of events, programmes and activities for MIA members, stakeholders and the general public.
On Monday, MIA announces its its Golden Anniversary Celebration with the theme ‘Integrity, Accountability and Trust’ in mind.
MIA president Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi says that the celebration is to be held over a few months as a means of appreciating the contributions made by the stakeholders as well as the MIA members.
“The celebration of ‘Golden Jubilee’ is also a time to reflect what the Institute has achieved and, what the future holds for the Institute and the accountancy profession as a whole,” he adds.
