Petaling Jaya, March 6 – Scomi Transit Projects Sdn Bhd (STP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Scomi Engineering Bhd (SEB), last week, entered into the Third Supplemental Contract (TSC) with Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (PMB) for the Kuala Lumpur Monorail Fleet Expansion Project Contract Agreement dated June 3, 2011 (Principal Contract) for the completion of the upgrade of the Kuala Lumpur monorail stations and the electrical and mechanical system, the construction of a new depot and delivery of 12 sets of new 4-car trains.
In addition to the Principal Contract, STP and PMB had also signed two separate supplemental contracts dated April 16, 2014 and April 15, 2015 respectively pertaining to the Project.
This TSC is to facilitate the completion of the remaining works under the Principal Contract which is essentially the delivery of the remaining six sets of 4-car trains. With the signing this TSC, both parties have agreed to retract their respective law suits filed previously.
Additionally, under this TSC, both parties have agreed to appoint an independent consultant to resolve all claim issues.
“We are pleased to move forward and continue with this Project after various negotiations with PMB. With the common goal of ensuring completion of this project, my team and I remain committed to delivering our responsibilities for this important project which is of national interest,” said Rohaida Ali Badaruddin, Chief Executive Officer of SEB.
To date, STP has completed approximately 83% of the Project works, which consist of the civil works (stations extension, construction of a new depot, stabling yard and train wash plant), wayside systems along the entire alignment, new signalling system for four-car trains and mixed fleet operations and delivery of six trains.
